Aboriginal Student Counsellor

An Aboriginal Student Counsellor is available to provide or make referrals for personal and grief counselling, academic counselling, liaison with First Nation Education Authorities regarding funding and sponsorship, career information and referrals to support agencies in the community if required.

Oshki Anishnawbeg Student Association

In 1987, the first aboriginal student association was formed at Confederation College. In 1992, it was renamed the Oshki Anishnawbeg Student Association (OASA) and policies and procedures were established to guide its operations. In the summer of 2002, OASA revised its constitution enabling changes in areas such as meeting protocol (consensus-based), executive and director representation and accountability. OASA has contributed to a proactive student organization supporting students to empower themselves and their communities.

The goal of the Oshki Anishnawbeg Student Association is to promote the best interests of the Aboriginal Student community on and off campus. The Oshki Executive represents Aboriginal students at the College and increases awareness of culture and perspectives in both the College community and Aboriginal communities in the region. The Association facilitates a sense of community for all students across the College.

The OASA executive office is located on the first floor of the Shuniah Building in the SUCCI Office.
